Armed with an exciting business idea and a $2,000 loan, Martin E. Judge, Jr. founded The Judge Group in 1970 to help organizations find qualified engineering and management professionals. Judge quickly grew from a permanent placement company into a $750 million professional services firm with resources across North America and the Asia Pacific region and is on track to over $1 billion in revenue by 2025.
1970
The Early Years
In 1969, Martin E. Judge, Jr. accepted a job at a staffing company, placing people in full-time positions. Marty liked his work but felt something was missing, so with one year under his belt, he decided to go into business for himself. Marty set out to establish a permanent placement staffing company in Northeast Philadelphia, and the rest is history: The Judge Group was born.
1980
Judge Computer and the Launch of Judge Technical Services
Within a few years, the growth of the company led to a second Philadelphia office and the opening of its first branch office in the Greater Boston Area. The company also expanded into the Southeast region, opening the Tampa, FL office in 1980. In 1982, Marty saw an opportunity in manufacturing computers and Judge Computer was started as a service company for schools and businesses. By 1984, the company was building and distributing Judge XT computers.
After 15 years of success, Marty expanded Judge’s service offerings into the contract staffing market. By January of 1986, Judge Technical Services was formed with a focus on information technology contract staffing.
1996
Adding Learning to Our Portfolio of Services
In 1996, Judge expanded its portfolio of services by acquiring Berkeley Training, a Philadelphia-based learning and development company, and Judge Learning was born. As a leading provider of corporate training services and learning solutions for small, medium, and Fortune 500 companies, Judge Learning employs a strategic approach to learning that meets organizational training goals while strengthening business outcomes. Leveraging a network of over 18,000 learning professionals worldwide, Judge Learning has since delivered more than 30,000 workforce training projects across enterprises and industries.
2000
Expansion of the U.S. Footprint and Launch of Judge Healthcare
Over the next five years, Judge opened more than 20 offices across the country with a focus on technology staffing. The new offices coincided with growing tech hubs across the U.S. such as D.C. Metro; Dallas, TX; Silicon Valley, CA; Chicago, IL; New York, NY; and Atlanta, GA.
Also during this time, Judge recognized opportunities in the healthcare sector and launched Judge Healthcare to bridge the talent divide for enterprise companies and organizations across the healthcare ecosystem, providing resources and specialized roles such as vaccination and on-site medical testing staff, travel nurses, allied healthcare employees, and more. Within 10 years, Judge Healthcare would become a major service offering and one of the largest staffing providers of allied healthcare professionals in the U.S.
2010
Launch of Judge Consulting
In order to better serve clients’ project-based application needs, the company launched Judge Business Solutions in 2006, now Judge Consulting, Inc. Two years later, Judge expanded its infrastructure solutions by starting Judge Unified Communications, which was later sold in 2018.
2011
International Expansion — Canada
In 2011, Judge continued its international expansion by entering the Toronto, Canada market.
2016
Launch of Judge India
In September of 2016, The Judge Group launched Judge India to provide its international clients with a high-quality alternative for IT consulting and offshore solutions. What started as an offshore recruiting center quickly emerged into a 24/7 IT solutions center, supporting clients’ IT, consulting, and managed service needs. Judge India serves as a key component to the company’s current global delivery strategy.
2016
Expansion of Corporate Global Headquarters
2016 also marked the expansion and relocation of The Judge Group’s global corporate headquarters from Conshohocken to Wayne, Pennsylvania. Increased demand for Judge’s services and continued bottom-line growth were the driving forces behind the move, which allowed Judge to more than double its previous footprint. The new location enabled Judge to continue building its teams while investing in its future.
