The Challenge: Simultaneously Upgrading Data Center Legacy Equipment Across Four Different US Locations
A leading global cable and backbone internet provider needed to simultaneously upgrade their legacy backbone routing equipment with new Cisco carrier grade infrastructure across four of their US data centers. Due to issues with the legacy equipment, the project needs to be completed and brought online simultaneously. The client needed a partner with the skill and reach to quickly get up to speed on the project and be able to deploy teams in New York, NY, Dallas, TX, Chicago, IL, and San Jose, CA. They also needed a partner that could provide the oversight and project management necessary to coordinate and manage all four projects concurrently.
The Solution: Assembling Multiple Skilled Engineering Teams with Project Management Across Various Locations
The client, in collaboration with a leading technology partner, selected Judge Consulting to partner on the data center upgrades in all four locations. Judge met with the client project owners, technology partner SMEs, and key stakeholders to review and agree on the necessary rack elevations, patch schedules, power layout, and equipment to deploy.
The Result: Successful Deployment of Data Center Upgrades Allowing for Simultaneous Turn Up at All Four Sites
Judge was able to quickly assemble and scale multiple teams across the client’s four data centers in New York, NY, Dallas, TX, Chicago, IL, and San Jose, CA. The Judge team physically installed the racks with the supplied equipment, labeled all connections, and documented f inal patching solutions concurrently. Additionally, Judge loaded basic configuration files onto all equipment and successfully verified remote accessibility from the client NOC team. This allowed the client to cut over from their legacy equipment to their new Cisco carrier grade infrastructure and bring all four locations online simultaneously and without issue.
